Welcome to the Hearty Goodfellow!

Located in the well known historic town of Southwell, famous for the Southwell Minster and Racecourse, the Hearty Goodfellow is situated within walking distance of the centre of town on the A612 between Nottingham and Newark.

The Hearty Goodfellow is much more than just another pub, it is a traditional cask ale house with its very own brewery – Mallard Brewery - located a mile away in the tiny rural hamlet of Maythorne.

The Hearty Goodfellow is an award winning pub, Newark CAMRA pub of the year in 2010, which sits in a beautiful award winning garden, Spencer Memorial Substantial Garden Award 2011.  It features in both the Good Pub Guide and Good Beer Guide.

There is a large car park from which you can view the original Bramley Apple Tree, an excellent children’s play area and pretty outside terrace.

Whatever the reason for visiting the Hearty Goodfellow, whether for a comforting home cooked lunch or a pint of great ale, you will always receive a warm welcome from the Landlord and Landlady and their team even if you are a walker with muddy boots or a dog!
